Ottomans: Functional and Elevated Pieces for Everyday Life
Ottomans have evolved over decades as a piece of furniture since the Ottoman Empire introduced this accessory in the 18th century. An ottoman is and can serve as the following:
- An ottoman is…. a piece of furniture that can be used to replace or add to a sectional.
- The ottoman can… have concealed hinges that form a lid, making great additional storage space.
- A smaller ottoman can be placed near an armchair or sofa to create extra seating, style, and much more.
Our custom furniture line offers many current versions of an ottoman to fit any setting, whether your space is casual, formal, or a mix of both. We use ottomans for the following:
- As a footrest and extra seating
- Instead of a sectional, a more oversized ottoman may double as a sectional and be used on either end of the sofa.
- Any ottoman can be used as storage.
- With the use of trays or a more dense fill, ottomans can become a table as well.
- Add some design contrast with a pop of color in a darker area
- A round ottoman can be a great addition to a conversational setting

Storage ottomans can be helpful in a small space and have an additional charge. Here we have the Monterey sofa with the large rectangle ottoman with storage.
As a design preference, round ottomans can add an unexpected dimension center to your living space. Our Fillmore round ottoman is only available in one size but has an attractive higher top for additional legroom. Our Bartlett sofa can be ordered in a curved design, so the round ottoman is an excellent accessory for this style or a design preference. In addition, pops of color add dimension to the interior design.
Convertible chaise sofas offer a built-in movable ottoman option as an alternative to a larger two-piece sectional sofa. As pictured, our Treat sofa is 78” and a smaller footprint sofa and ideally suited for apartment-style living. The sofa is stationary, but the ottoman with either the right or left side can alternately support the chaise cushion. This is an excellent option for apartments or customers who want the feel of a sectional but can not accommodate a size-able two-piece sectional because they may move and prefer not to commit to an expensive sofa that may not work in the next.
