What are High-Performance Fabrics?
Once you have decided to purchase a sofa, choosing a fabric that fits your lifestyle is very important. Many of our fabrics are high-performance or have already been pre-treated to be water resistant, decreasing the likelihood of stains. High-Performance fabric, also known simply as performance fabric, is a highly durable upholstery fabric ideal for furniture that receives lots of daily use. Performance fabric stands up to the wear and tear of kids and pets because of its stain, water, and odor resistance. Each durable fiber is encased with a performance solution, moisture will bead up on the fabric surface, and you can quickly go in and blot the water away.

Live Smart High Performance
With Live Smart fabric, you won’t have to compromise on form or function because Live Smart is completely water-repellant. We created an in-studio test with this Live Smart fabrics, and water was instantly repelled and easily blotted off without any resistance. The image below shows the Halifax fabric, which has a smooth texture while Vann has a flat finish which is great for pet owners.

The Ease has a smooth surface with a slight gradation. Ease is excellent if you have cats as it looks textured but is smooth and offers no resistance or temptation to those clawing house pets. The Prisma offers gorgeous color gradation and surface texture that is soft and has a more formal effect but is not as animal friendly.

Home Cleaning Performance Fabrics
Cleaning a sofa can be manageable as there is a simple cleaning process. Step one: Relax. Your performance fabric has your back. Since each durable fiber is encased with a performance solution, moisture will bead up on the fabric surface, and you can quickly go in and blot the water away. For any remaining soiling, you can dab out with a damp cloth.
Use mild soap and water for tougher messes, and gently dab with a towel. It’s essential not to use a bristle brush or harsh bleaching agents on performance fabric, as these will compromise the integrity of the fabric fibers. Remember, as with any stain or soil, the faster you can act to remove the stain, the better the results will be.
- Vacuum surface regularly
- Blot with clean cloths promptly for spills
- Clean with detergent-based cleaner and water. We recommend a combination of vinegar and Folex as per our cleaning blog
- Air dry
We recommend professional cleaning every few years to remove dust and other materials in your environment. We recommend periodic dry cleaning for cushions with zippers.
